Lager

Lager is the category of beer. This beer type is very popular globally especially the pilsner and they make up the greatest percentage of the beer type that is consumed around the world. Lager is kept chilled for some months before being served for consumption.

Lager is light in color as lager don’t feature strong hop flavoring. It has a mild flavor and is usually served refrigerated. Lagers are fermented for a long period of time in comparison to other types of beers like ales.

Type of Yeast

Beer is fermented from the top by ale yeast while lager is bottom fermented by lager yeast.

Fermentation Temperature

Beer is fermented at 15-24oC while lager is fermented in less than 10oC.

Hops are used to flavor the beer, to give bitter taste while lager has a mild flavor and is light in color as lager don’t feature strong hop flavoring.
